MANGISS

Set on the quieter east coast of Bali, the beaches of Manggis are otherworldly in their beauty, framed by coconut groves and the majestic vulcano Mount Agung. Walk through the surrounding rice paddies to appreciate the tranquillity of the region and take in the stupendous views of Mount Agung. This is a landscape to unwind in the beauty of the Balinese scenery.

As it is a quieter part of Bali, Manggis is a good choice for both families and couples alike. This region is an ideal base from which to discover the cultural diversity and rich history of Bali, where religion is an intrinsic part of everyday life.

The exceptional beauty of Manggis is continued offshore in its pristine ocean and coral reefs. Snorkel through the crystal waters or head further out to the Blue Lagoon, a vibrant reef, rich in marine life and offering superb diving opportunities.

Mount Agung stands proud in Manggis and is the country’s highest volcano. This landmark is revered by the Balinese as a home of the Gods, as well as a replica of Mount Meru, the central axis of the universe. One legend holds that the mountain is a fragment of Meru brought to Bali by the first Hindus.
